The two principal generators of a building design are:

The Site – All the factors are considered, such as how the cars will move and how the people will move within the site, as well as the environmental aspects, including solar and wind orientation, views, slopes, vegetation, and immediate surroundings.

The Owners' Program – All the physical needs are considered, such as as spaces, sizes, adjacencies, tastes, family histories, and future impacts.
